Ending Nairobi

Seamless endings to unforgettable journeys. Whether you're returning from the wilds of the Masai Mara, the foothills of Kilimanjaro, or the Great Rift Valley lakes, these safari itineraries end in Nairobi — Kenya’s gateway to the world.

Day 1 – Nairobi to Lake Naivasha & Lake Nakuru

Your safari adventure begins in Nairobi, where you’ll be warmly met and set off on a scenic journey through the Great Rift Valley. The sweeping landscapes will set the tone for the days ahead, dotted with acacia trees and shimmering lakes.

Arrive in Lake Naivasha in time for a delicious lunch overlooking the water. In the afternoon, step aboard a boat for a gentle cruise across the lake, drifting past hippos, water birds, and the occasional giraffe on the shore. Then step onto Crescent Island for a guided walking safari among free-roaming antelope, zebras, and other plains game.

From Naivasha, the road takes you to Lake Nakuru, a gem famed for its rich birdlife and thriving rhino population. Arrive at your lodge in time to relax, take in the views, and enjoy a freshly prepared dinner before retiring for the night.

Day 2 – Lake Nakuru to the Maasai Mara

Wake to the crisp air of the Rift Valley and venture into Lake Nakuru National Park for an early game drive. This is a sanctuary for both black and white rhinos, as well as Rothschild’s giraffes, lions, buffalo, and a kaleidoscope of bird species.

After a hearty breakfast back at the lodge, set out for the legendary Maasai Mara. The drive is a journey into the beating heart of safari country, where golden plains stretch to the horizon. Between July and October, the landscape comes alive with the Great Migration, as millions of wildebeest and zebra thunder across the Mara River under the watchful eyes of big cats.

Arrive in the Mara in time for lunch and a little relaxation. Later in the afternoon, join local Maasai morans for a guided walking safari through the savannah, learning about the land, the wildlife, and the traditions of one of Africa’s most storied cultures. Cap the day with a visit to a Maasai village before returning to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and a night under the Mara skies.

Day 3 – The Wild Heart of the Mara

The Maasai Mara offers many ways to experience its magic, and today is yours to explore. You may choose to set out after breakfast for a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch, following the tracks of lions, elephants, cheetahs, and perhaps even leopards. Your guide will take you to the Mara River, scene of the migration’s dramatic crossings.

Alternatively, enjoy a slower start, with a morning game drive followed by time to relax at camp before heading out again in the afternoon. Whichever you choose, expect wildlife encounters at every turn, set against one of the most iconic backdrops in Africa.

Dinner and overnight at your lodge or tented camp.

Day 4 – Farewell to the Mara

Savor a final breakfast in the bush, with the distant roar of lions or the chuckle of hyenas as your soundtrack. Depending on your schedule, you might enjoy one last game drive before beginning the journey back to Nairobi.

Your guide will see you safely to your Nairobi hotel or to the airport for your onward flight, carrying with you the sights, sounds, and spirit of an unforgettable safari.
